During a concert performance at Nintendo Live in Osaka, Japan, The Legend of Zelda series director Eiji Aonuma went on stage and made a surprising statement.
“I know what you’re waiting for – Skyward Sword for Switch. Right?” Aonuma said, The Nerd Mag reported. The tease was confirmed by multiple Twitter updates from people who were in attendance.
Personally, I just started playing this game, so if it becomes a reality, I may switch, (pardon the pun) over to another game, and simply wait for the updated version.
My biggest gripe with Skyward Sword is the method of control. I get that Nintendo was really pushing motion controls back in the days of the Wii and this game not only used gestures, but also used “Motion Plus”. Motion Plus was a good idea, but the implementation in Zelda – Skyward Sword was atrocious. Getting Link to do what I want him to do is a trial in itself.
Let me be blunt; I hate motion controls. Maybe it is because I grew up playing games where a button did what it was supposed to do rather than waving my arms around and hoping for the best. I despise motion controls in games.
On the Switch, the first thing I do is disable all motion controls, so I can play the game. Why “Mario Odyssey” requires the player to view all of its possibilities control schemes each time it is booted, I have no idea. I just put the Switch down and wait for the “suggestions” to end.
I would love to see “games” from the “Wii days” that were classics migrated over to a platform that no longer requires the gimmicky control scheme.
What do you think? Simply play the Wii version or wait for an update. As of now, the updated version is merely a rumor.
