The rumors are true. Microsoft has updated their GamePass options. If you are a Gold or Ultimate member, you do not need to do anything (at least not yet). The claim is that with “Core,” you now have more options.

Core will be a more limited option in comparison to higher tiers. Xbox and PlayStation are essentially playing the same game now. You can buy the basic plan or pay more for more options. Whether or not you need day-1 games for your plan, is entirely up to you. As you know from my previous blog posts, Sony refuses to release their exclusives on day-1 and Microsoft has openly admitted that this practice hurts sales. I suppose the change was inevitable.
