Nintendo had one of their famous directs today and a lot of cool new Switch games were announced. Besides the Nintendo games, third parties were also showing off their games.

Contra: Operation Galuga

As soon as I saw the trailer, I said to myself, was this remake of the original game? As it turns out; it is, specifically a “reimagining of the NES game” The game will feature various difficulty options and up to four-player co-op.

Contra: Operation Galuga releases in early 2024 for Switch.

Tomb Raider 1, 2, 3 Remasters

These games are also coming to other consoles including PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam) in 2024. Crystal Dynamics and Aspyr are working on the game, which is set for launch on February 14, 2024. The games have upgraded visuals and players can toggle between original polygonal graphics and updated visuals with the push of a button. Oh, and Lara doesn’t have a “modern” appearance.

F-Zero 99

Much like the other games in the “99” series, you fight against other players in a battle royale. Take a look:

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pack Wave 6

I’ve covered the “Booster Pack” multiple times with my kids on YouTube. Well, the final wave is set for release later this year:

Also, enjoy playing as some new characters, like Pauline, Diddy Kong, Funky Kong and Peachette:

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

The classic GameCube game is getting a re-release with widescreen and better graphics. The game is set for release in a rather ambiguous “2024.” Take a look at the trailer.

Super Mario RPG

This is a remake that I have been waiting for. I have been interested in this game since I started playing Paper Mario: Origami King.

Yes, it is! Excellent game!

Nintendo has revealed even more details about what’s new in the Switch remake of Super Mario RPG, including an Easy Mode and SNES music option. Here’s the awesome trailer:

The game will be released on November 17, 2023.

Mario vs Donkey Kong

I know what you are thinking. You want to play a reimagined Gameboy Advance game. I actually do look forward to this game. I think it will be a fun game and will probably buy it.

The game is set to launch on February 16, 2024.

Princess Peach: Showtime!

While this game is not for me, I could see my daughter loving every minute of it.

The game is set to launch on March 22, 2024.

Final Thoughts

Apparently, the Switch has quite a bit of life left in it. These are more than enough games to keep me busy. When the Switch 2 is released, I will probably buy it, assuming I can. The only other game of note is Prince of Persia. It did not appeal to me, but I did link to the trailer. I’m looking forward to playing these games.
