Reaction to the PlayStation Showcase

Today, Sony streamed their 2023 PlayStation Showcase on YouTube. There are a handful of interesting games, and a lot of others that I have no interest in. I live-tweeted as the show progressed.

If you click on the first entry, you can see the entire list of comments.

By far, the most interesting game was Spider-man 2. You get the benefit of the gameplay from the first two games, with a new experience…and Venom! Apparently, Kraven is in the game too.

During the show, they announced a remake of Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater.

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater Remake (Metal Gear Solid Master Collection NOT shown here)

At the end of the Metal Gear segment, a teaser screen for the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Volume 1 appeared, which confirms Metal Gear Solid, MGS2: Sons of Liberty, and MGS 3: Snake Eater will becoming to PlayStation 5 this fall.

These games look like straight ports, but they are listed as “Master Edition.” The message from the development team does not clear it up either:

It does not appear to be the “Twin Snakes” version of the first game. Fortunately, it seems that there is room for additional games for them to include. Check out the “Metal Gear” portal for more details. One of those details you can look at is the fact that they clearly list the Xbox Series X and Steam as well the PS5.

The only other game that they showcased that I had any interest was Tower of Fantasy. The more I read about it, the more I lost interest.

With the amount of massive games (Zelda, Jedi Survivor) I have picked up lately, I actually could stand to go a little while with only playing two this year.

The streaming controller is interesting to say the least, but unless it supports other streaming consoles, I have no interest.

The entire stream is here:

Start at 49:50

What games interested you the most? Let me know in the comments.
