Retro consoles are making a resurgence, as outlined by the Generational Gamer channel.
There have been countless reviews of the RetroTink, which is largely why I purchased mine. At first I was rather pissed because I thought that the reviews were horribly misleading. In truth, most of the sponsored reviewers did in fact paint a very nice picture of the device with rose colored lenses.
There are tons of reviews on YouTube; just take a look: https://m.youtube.com/results?search_query=retrotink+2x
I was not really impressed with the device, but it does do one thing well; serves as a means of playing the Nintendo 64, which does not naturally support HDMI options. My video is here explaining what I mean. The Dreamcast has several HDMI options, as well as the VGA outputs. The NES, Genesis, SNES and even the PlayStation have plenty of clone consoles or backwards compatible, or even FPGA options. That leaves just the Nintendo 64, making the RetroTink the most cost-effective means of playing the games on a modern HDTV.
What do you think of the RetroTink? Are you impressed? Is it the “Wonder-device” that early YouTubers suggested?
