SEGA Saturn VS Saturn MiSTer FPGA Core

The SEGA Saturn was successful in Japan, but it faded out like like a fart in the wind in North America. (Adolescent son approved). Fortunately, because the Saturn and its games are so expensive, I have a friend who was nice enough to lend me one and bunch of titles.

Using his Saturn, my RetroTink 2x Pro, Sega Genesis HD Retrovision cables and a Marseille Inc. mClassic, the Saturn never looked better. Graphically, compared to the MiSter FPGA, the graphics still suffered. On the flip side, the Saturn was more reliable than the unfinished core on the MiSTer. I shared my findings on my YouTube channel here.

A little background information on the MiSTer FPGA core; it is unfinished and free, so it is difficult to complain about. The developer is performing miracles with the hardware. His pinned tweet is below:

Used srg320_’s core to make this video

You can support the developer here.

There will be more videos. I will probably start with Daytona USA, as I used it as a demo for the Die Hard Arcade video. Let me know if there are any preferences. I’ll see if it is in the collection my buddy lent me.
