Xbox Series X|S Mid-Generation Refresh

Microsoft has a new line of consoles prepared for 2024. None of them support physical media, so get ready for an all-digital environment. My son wants a Series X, so I suppose I have to get him one before the discs are no longer an option. Modern games are too large for Blu-ray Discs, so I get why Microsoft is doing this, but I don’t like it.

Out of the entire announcement, the controller below is the most interesting. While it looks similar to the current Series X|S controller, it does feature some features. I’m not sure was “Pair & Switch” is, but if it allows for a quick transfer to a mobile phone, I am definitely interested. You can read the FTC PDF yourself, here.

Next Generation “Cloud Hybrid” Console

I called the “next generation” console concept a while ago. I mentioned it on YouTube and specifically identified the possibility of cloud-based gaming. I started by stating that I think the Series X was Microsoft’s last console. It isn’t but they are moving to a set-top box, cloud-based device.
